Plant-based Hygiene Care

SETTING A NEW STANDARD IN EVERYDAY CARE

At Naty, we pioneered plant-based hygiene care to offer a safer, more responsible alternative to conventional products made with fossil-based plastic. For over 30 years, we've led with nature, using plant-based materials on skin, and where possible fully in product, and backing every claim with certifications and tests. We don’t wait for the industry to change. We build what’s next. From diapers to period care, our products are made to meet the highest standards — because body and planet deserves better.

WHAT IS PLANT-BASED HYGIENE CARE?

Plant-based hygiene care is an emerging category of diaspers, wet wipes, liners, tampons, and more — made from plant-based materials instead of fossil-based plastics. While this category is gaining attention, it still lacks clear regulation and consistent naming.

Over the years, terms like “eco,”, "nature", “natural”, "green" and “organic” have been widely used — but often without definition or proof. In reality:

  • There are not legally defined “eco” hygiene products
  • “Natural” or “organic” only applies to specific components, such as organic cotton — and even then, only in limited parts of the product
  • Many products that use these terms still rely on fossil-based plastics on skin

That’s why at Naty, we choose to lead with “plant-based” — a term that is measurable, verifiable, and certifiable. We believe this is the most honest and transparent way to describe hygiene care that prioritizes renewable materials, performance, and skin safety. It’s not just a label — it’s a commitment to facts.

While the disposable hygiene industry has existed for over 70 years, Naty helped pioneer this plant-based path back in 1994 — long before the category had a name. We’ve spent over 30 years building this movement and raising the bar for what hygiene care should be.

FROM PLANT TO PRODUCT — AND WHAT’S POSSIBLE NEXT

We work with global experts to source plant-based materials that perform — safely, softly, and without compromise. This includes:

  • Diapers: Two high-performance options — one with a 100% plant-based polyethylene (bioPE) made from sugarcane in contact with the skin, and another with bamboo viscose in both the topsheet and backsheet.
  • Wet Wipes: Cellulose based, made from FSC® certified fibers, certified OK Compost Home & Industrial, ensuring clean degradation with no harmful residues, and formulated with ultrapure water
  • Sanitary pads: Organic cotton top sheet, FSC® pulp, plant-based & compostable backsheet and wrap
  • Tampons: 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton
  • Toiletries: COSMOS Natural-certified with 98% of natural origin of the total.
  • Plant-based is a major step forward — but compostable isn’t the same. Today, no fully compostable disposable nappies exist at commercial scale. Why?

  • Composting infrastructure is limited and would require massive investment
  • A full product redesign would double costs and compromise on absorbency and leakage
  • We won’t overpromise. When safe, high-performing circular solutions become truly viable, we’ll lead. Until then, we’ll keep making the best plant-based care possible.

HOW WE PROVE OUR PLANT-BASED CLAIMS

We don’t just say “plant-based” — we prove it. Every claim is backed by internationally recognized certifications that verify our materials, sourcing, and composition:

  • DIN CERTCO –Confirms the exact percentage of plant-based content in materials like our sugarcane-based bioPE
  • FSC® – Guarantees that the pulp used in our diapers, wet wipes, and liners is sourced from responsibly managed forests
  • GOTS –Validates that our tampons are made with 100% certified organic cotton
  • OK Plant-based (TÜV Austria) –Confirms that our wipes, sanitary pads and liners are made from renewable biological sources
  • OK Compost Home & Industrial (TÜV Austria) –Certifies that selected wipes, wrappers, and bags meet strict compostability standards
  • OK Biodegradable Water (TÜV Austria) –Confirms that our flushable wipes break down safely in aquatic environments

We also work with material experts to ensure our products perform reliably — without greenwashing or guesswork.

SMARTER CARE, SMARTER DISPOSAL

Plant-based care reduces fossil plastic use — but smart disposal matters too. Here's how to dispose of Naty products responsibly, depending on your local waste system:

  • Diapers: General waste
  • Pads & Liners: Used → general waste. Wrapper → compostable
  • Tampons: General waste (do not flush)
  • Compostable Wipes: Organic waste bin (if accepted)
  • Flushable Wipes: Flush one at a time, only in systems that support it
  • Toiletries: Bottles recyclable in plastic stream
  • Disposal Bags: Compostable → organic waste (if accepted)
  • All Naty packaging and individual wrapping is recyclable.

Always check your local waste guidelines for the correct disposal of product and packaging.
